Applying Newton’s laws involve free body diagrams. When, the Newton’s laws are applied one
must draw a free body diagram before applying the law. When an object is pulled through a rope,
the magnitude of the force along the rope is called tension. The tension
along the rope provides
the acceleration of the object. While applying Newton’s laws in a problem following points must be
followed:
(a) Drawing a free-body diagram.
(b) Isolate the object which needs to be analyzed.
(c) Apply Newton’s second law of motion
(d) Solve the resulting equations
(e) Check the consistency with the free-body diagram
